UP Police chasing Kanpur shootout main accused Vikas Dubey, his network being busted

UTTAR Pradesh Police, which has launched a massive manhunt across several states for notorious history-sheeter Vikas Dubey,  claims he will be nabbed soon as knowledgeable people in his home state UP, say Dubey, 55, has several informers in the state police and acquaintances across political parties. The absconding history-sheeter turned-politician is based in Kanpur Dehat district. Dubey, a Brahmin by caste, joined the BSP in 1995-96 and won elections at the district level allegedly by muscle power. His wife, Richa Dubey, has also won elections to local bodies. Dubey is the primary accused in the 2001 killing of BJP leader Santosh Shukla, who was then a Minister of State. Dubey was arrested but was acquitted due to alleged political pressure. The first criminal case against him was registered in the early 1990s, and by 2020 he had over 60 criminal cases against his name. He was last spotted at a hotel in  Faridabad close to Delhi. Station Officer of Chaubey police station Vinay Tiwari allegedly having links with gangster Vikas Dubey and  Sub Inspector K K Sharma who is suspected of leaking information to the don about  Friday’s midnight raid by the police have been taken into custody. Vikas Dubey is accused of masterminding the massacre of eight policemen last week. Both Tiwari and Sharma have been suspended shortly after the incident. Tiwari and Sharma allegedly tipped off Dubey about the midnight raid by the police on Friday. Kanpur’s senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar P said, both the officers were charged under Section 120 B of the IPC for conspiring to kill the policemen. His close aide Amar Dubey, who was also involved in the ambush last week in which eight policemen were killed, was chased down and shot dead by the police in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Amar Dubey was number one on the list of 15 of Vikas Dubey’s aides being hunted by the police since the killing of cops in Kanpur during a failed raid. Amar Dubey was married last week, days before the killings. Vikas Dubey was instrumental in the wedding. Amar Dubey was reportedly in charge of Vikas Dubey’s security and travelled with him armed with a rifle. Vikas Dubey, with 60 cases of murder, rioting, kidnapping and extortion, escaped along with others involved in the firing. Vikas Dubey’s close relative Sharma, neighbour Suresh Verma and domestic help Rekha and her husband Dayashankar Agnihotri, a key member of his gang, have also been arrested. All the 68 policemen at the Chaubeypur Police Station in Kanpur have been removed and shunted to the reserve police lines as they are being investigated into their alleged links with Vikas Dubey.
