VIJAYASHANTI, noted film, TV personality of South Cinema, joins BJP

SATTTI  Vijayashanti, popularly called Vijayashanti, actress- producer turned politician, has switched her allegiance to the  Bharatiya Janata Party after quitting Congress on Monday, December 7.  Vijayashanti had earlier called on Home Minister Amit Shah who had led the party’s campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in her home city . Vijayashanti had joined the Congress in 2014. She became an MP from Medak after she contested on a TRS ticket and represented the constituency between 2009-2014. She parted her way from TRS and joined Congress in 2014.Vijayashanthi , known as  Lady Superstar and Amitabh Bachchan of South Cinema, had joined the BJP in 1997. During Telangana separate statehood movement, she was closely associated with TRS chief KCR.She won the Best Actress National Film Award for her work as a “Super Policeman” in Karthavyam (1990), for her depiction of aggression and femininity with balance and restraint. She has also

won seven Filmfare Awards, six Best Actor Awards and a 2003 Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award (South), and four Nandi Awards for Best Actor. he was the only actress to claim high compensation, equivalent to that of her male counterparts in the 1990s. Her earnings for the Telugu Karthavyam movie released in 1990  amounted to 1 crore, the highest ever remuneration paid to an actress during this period even in Bollywood. She joined state policy in 1998.politician.
