West Bengal Government Helping Needy Bengalis Impacted By Lockdown In Delhi

With the ongoing lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic, many needy Bengali families in Delhi who live and earn their livelihoods as daily wagers were found to be striving for their daily ration. Kali Bari Mayur Vihar Samiti of Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Delhi had approached the West Bengal Government authorities through the Resident Commissioner and sought help for the needy families. The request was considered and the Kali Bari Samiti was supplied with ration goods for distribution. The samiti made a detailed list of the needy families and arranged for the distribution of the goods strictly maintaining the health and hygiene by giving sanitizers and also maintaining the social distancing. The samiti’s secretary Utpal (Tarak) Banerjee thanked the West Bengal government, the Resident Commissioner in Delhi for their overwhelming support. He also thanked Tapan Roy, former Security in- charge, Parliament House, devoted to social activities. Tapan Roy is a life member of the samiti. Banerjee thanked him for his effort in getting the support of the government. Roy, who had worked in the Ministry of Railways then headed by Mamata Banerjee, has assured further government help in the coming weeks. Banerjee also thanked the KBMVS volunteers for their untiring efforts in organizing the distribution camp.
