WITH film making virtually remaining stalled in India due to protocols being observed to contain coronavirus, the invisible virus has affected several bigwigs in the cinema world. A day after megastar Amitabh Bachchan, 77, his son Abhishek Bachchan, 44, tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to Nanavati Hospital, another superstar Anupam Kher, 65, has tweeted saying his mother is admitted to Kokilaben Hospital, his brother’s family is quarantining at their home. “I’ve informed the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), they’re working amazingly, efficiently. They will sanitise my brother’s residence,” he said. It has been further revealed that the hospital PR team at Nanavati will not be sharing any further updates about the father-son duo’s health and that they themselves will be putting out any related news via social media. As per sources, Big B has requested the PR team at Nanavati hospital to not share any details about his health.  Anupam Kher on Sunday, July 12 said his mother, Dulari, along with brother Raju and his family have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently under quarantine. Kher said his mother wasn’t eating for the past few days and even got her blood tests done, which showed nothing alarming.”But then our doctor advised us to take her to a CT scan centre and get her scanned and it turned out she was COVID positive, mild,” he said.”My brother and I also got ourselves tested, where Raju tested mildly positive while I was negative. My sister-in-law and niece also tested mildly positive,” the actor added. While his mother is admitted to Kokilaben Hospital, his brother’s family is quarantining at their home. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has meanwhile sealed portion of actor Rekha’s standalone bungalow in suburban Bandra after a security guard tested coronavirus positive, a civic official said on Sunday.

In Kolkata, popular Bengali film actor Koel Mallick and her family have tested positive for Covid-19. She has revealed on Twitter saying she, her parents, veteran Bengali film actor Ranjit Mallick,, 75, his wife Deepa Mallick and her husband, producer Nispal Singh, have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. Koel also added that the four of them will go into self-quarantine. “Baba Ma Rane & I have tested COVID-19 Positive…self-quarantined!” she wrote. Several of Koel’s colleagues from the Bengali film fraternity wished her and her family a speedy recovery. Actor Prasenjit Chatterjee wrote, “Get well soon. All will be good. God bless.” Actor Abir Chatterjee wrote, “Plz take care. Wishing you all a speedy recovery.” Actor Jeet, Koel’s co-actor in some popular movies has tweeted “Wishing you all a speedy recovery. Prayers for well-being.” Actor Arpita Chatterjee wrote, “Hi @YourKoel .. am sure, you all will test negative very soon . will pray for your quick recovery. Koel has recently become a mother.

Meanwhile, the guard, at Rekha, the 65-year-old  blockbuster ‘Umrao Jaan’ famed actor’s bungalow ‘Sea Springs’ tested positive on Tuesday, a BMC official said. The BMC has put a board outside the premises declaring the place as a containment area. The security guard has been hospitalised at the BMC’s COVID-19 care facility in Bandra Kurla Complex, he said.
