INDIA Wins Tri-nation Nidhas Trophy Defeating Bangladesh

INDIA defeated Bangladesh by four wickets to lift the 2018 Tri-nation Nidhas Trophy at Colombo on Sunday. Captain Rohit Sharma scored a match-winning 56. India were under pressure right from the start of the final match after losing Shikhar Dhawan (10 runs) and Suresh Raina (0 runs).Manish Pandey (28 runs) also played a very important role in the middle to help India chase the target. India lost wickets in the middle-overs, but knocks by Dinesh Karthik (29 runs) and Manish Pandey helped India lift the trophy .The match went down to the wire, with India needing 12 runs to win from the final over. India just managed three runs from the first three balls, but that was followed by a four by Vijay Shankar. In the following ball, Shankar departed for 17 runs and in came Washington Sundar.India needed five runs from the final ball, and it was Dinesh Karthik who smashed an MS Dhoni-style six to take home the Men in Blue with another trophy. The Nidhas involving India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was held in the island nation. As per the rules, each team played each other twice, with two teams progressing to the final. The tournament was played to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 70th year of independence from British rule the title means freedom in Sinhalese language. Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the matches would be played as Twenty20 International fixtures. All the matches played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This was the first occasion that Discovery Networks Asia Pacific channel DSport acquired media rights to broadcast live cricket matches involving the Indian cricket team. Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field in their Nidahas Trophy final against Bangladesh. India had made only one change by bringing back Jaydev Unadkat replacing Mohammed Siraj.Bangladesh, however, had not made any changes in the team and played the same eleven players who defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets recently. Earlier, Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted for fielding in the Nidahas Trophy final. India  had  lost the   opening match to Sri Lanka.Except this lost, India went on winning the remaining matches and topping the points table .Bangladesh played the final with a win ratio of 50 per cent in the league stage. Despite losing both the matches to India, the Men in Green performed well against Sri Lanka in both their encounters as well as the dramatic finish by achieving the two-wicket win.(Pic: BCCI)
