MAMATA Banerjee Calls For Opposition Unity To Root Out BJP in 2024 LS Poll

AHEAD of her arrival in Delhi for dialogue with like-minded leaders, All India  Trinamool Congress on Wednesday, July 21 virtually projected its supremo  Mamata Banerjee as the  PM candidate for the 2024 Parliamentary elections. She spoke at a function held in Kolkata to pay homage to the 13 persons who were martyred on July 21, 1993, for demanding photo identity cards for the voters to ensure fair and free elections. The Police had opened fire on the demonstrators while proceeding to the seat of power at the Writers’ Building. It was led by then   West Bengal Youth Congress  leader   Mamata Banerjee. She had also sustained injuries. Giant screens were installed in all the 32 districts of Gujarat, New Delhi, Tripura, various places of Uttar Pradesh besides Assam to enable TMC supporters to note their supreme leader’s message. Congress leaders  P Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh, NCP President Sharad Pawar, Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, RJD leader Manoj Jha attended the Delhi function with TMC Parliamentarians. BJP, the principal opposition in her home state, during the day paid homage to those who lost lives in post poll violence and resolved to defend democracy at functions held in Kolkata, across West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, other states and Delhi. The whole country is witnessing the post-election violence against BJP workers in West Bengal, said WB BJP President Dilip Ghosh at a function held at Rajghat in Delhi. Bengal-Save Democracy’ program.  Addressing the virtual rally due to the corona pandemic, Mamata Banerjee said the BJP had destroyed the federal structure and tapping the phones of its opponents. Even my phone was tapped. Despite massive money and muscle powers used in the assembly elections, people of Bengal have voted TMC to power for the third term in secession, she said and urged the judiciary to probe the use of Pegasus being used by the BJP government. People are suffering due to inflation and skyrocketing prices of petroleum products. Modi Government had failed to provide covid 19 vaccines to the states. It had no clear-cut policy to fight the pandemic, she said adding there was no post-poll violence in her state as alleged by  BJP. Edited by PK Chakravarty
