MEA, Kolkata Organises Seminar on Art & artistry

MEA, Kolkata, Branch Secretariat in collaboration with the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies organised a Seminar on “West Bengal’s Global Reach through Art and Artistry”. It was a combination of physical and virtual presence of the participants, in the context of the pandemic. Leading lights of Art, Craft and Culture, inter alia, Shri Adwaita Gadanayak, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art and Dr. Satyabrata Chakraborty, General Secretary of the Asiatic Society, Kolkata spoke in the interactive event. Ambassador Rajasekhar, HoD (States) at MEA Headquarters, New Delhi and former DG ICCR was the Chief Guest. There were stalls by Master craftsmen/women showcasing their artifacts at the venue. Several foreign Consul Generals based in Kolkata also attended the event.
The speakers in the academic two academic sessions inter alia include Dr. Raja Gopal Dhar Chakraborty, Dean & HoD, South and South East Asian Studies, University of Calcutta; Ms. Keka Sarma, Secretary-General, Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Kanaklata Datta, eminent fashion designer and Prof. Aloke Kumar, Associate Professor, IIM Calcutta. Dr. Gianluca Rubagotti, Consul General of Italy in Kolkata and Ms. Monica Shie, Director of American Centre were also part of the two panels, enriching the deliberations.
