NEET, JEE will be held as scheduled, says SC

JEE Main NEET Exam 2020 New Dates, JEE Main Exam New Dates, NEET ...

The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a petition seeking postponement of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) scheduled to be held amid the Covid-19 pandemic. India’s apex junking the plea said the career of millions of students cannot be put under jeopardy indefinitely. The engineering entrance exam will be held as per schedule from September 1 to September 6 while the medical entrance is slated for September 13. The Bench of Justices Arun Mishra, B.R. Gavai and Krishna Murari was hearing a petition seeking postponement of the NEET and JEE filed by 11 aspirants from across various States. At the outset, Justice Mishra ‘’observed that life cannot be stopped and we have to move ahead with all safeguards We find no merit in the petition. The petition is dismissed”, the three-judge bench ruled. You (lawyers) have demanded the opening of physical courts. But you want exams to be postponed. Postponement of exams is a loss for the country,” the bench said. Petitioner’s lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava said that the vaccine for COVID is “on its way” and he is not seeking an indefinite postponement of the exams. But the bench found no merit in the case. Another petition praying that NEET and JEE should be held as per schedule was withdrawn by the petitioner after the court rejected the plea seeking deferment. Earlier this month, a plea was filed before the Supreme Court by 11 students belonging to 11 states seeking deferment. Courtesy for the picture to India TV News
