Veteran Journalist Bhabotosh Chakraborty Passes Away

BHABOTOSH Chakraborty, veteran journalist, passed away after age-old related ailments in Delhi. He was 84. Before partition he along with his parents and other family members migrated from Vikrampur in erstwhile East Pakistan and then to Lucknow. After post graduation in M.Com, he debuted in journalism and joined HINDUSTAN SAMACHAR multilingual news agency. He headed its bureaus  in Gangtok, Thimpu and Kolkata. Later, he joined the National Herald in Delhi as its political correspondent and retired from National Herald in 2022. Bhabotosh Chakraborty was one of the founding Members of the National Union of Journalist (India) and headed the Delhi Journalists’ Association. Under the banner of NUJ -I he was active for securing better emolument and service conditions for journalists. He was closely associated with the Matamat media house founded by Sukumar Roy. His wife Anita predeceased him in 2018. He is survived by his son, daughter and their expanding families.
