WB Sports Minister Laxmi Rattan Shukla resigns

West Bengal’s  Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports  Laxmi Ratan Shukla has resigned from his post. The cricketer turned politician, Shukla has also resigned from the post of President – Howrah district, TMC. Another minister Rajib Banerjee skipped meeting with Partha Chatterjee, a close aide of Chief Minister and ruling TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee readying for assembly election four months away. She forwarded his resignation to Governor Jagdeep Dhankar for acceptance. Shukla, 39, was  a right-handed middle-order batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He represented Bengal cricket team. He was also a player in the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shukla, born in Howrah district, had contested and won as a  Trinamool candidate from Howrah North seat. She has written to Mamata Banerjee saying he wished to quit politics and return to cricket once again. He requested that he be relieved from all posts in the party and the government. Reacting to Shukla’s resignation, BJP state President Dilip Ghosh, MP, said CM is losing wickets  “Those who have breakfast with her in the morning, are quitting the party in the afternoon.”  He named another minister from Howrah, Rajib Banerjee, Minister for Sports, whose comments about the ruling party have triggered speculation about his  political career.
