GOI will help WB govt rebuild Amphan devastated state, says PM Narendra Modi

The Centre will provide 1,000 crore rupees advance financial assistance to West Bengal for post-Amphan restoration work, said  Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Basirhat in North 24 Paraganas District close to Bangladesh border. After an aerial survey of the damages caused by the natural calamity with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday, May 22, he also participated in an administrative meeting to assess the extent of damages caused by the supper cyclonic storm on Thursday, May 21. PM Modi also announced two lakh rupees compensation to the families of each victim killed in the storm-related incidents and rupees 50,000 for those suffered injuries. A Central team will also arrive in the state soon to assess the damages. North and South 24 Paraganas districts of West Bengal. During the  45 minutes aerial survey, they experienced large scale devastation at Minakha, Namkhana, Hingalgunj, Gosaba, Bashirhat and vast areas of Sundarbans caused by Amphan. Later at the administrative meeting, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee submitted a preliminary report to the Prime Minister on the extent of damages and demanded appropriate Cantal help for reconstruction work. The Prime Minister assured Banerjee all kinds of Central helps to the state as demanded. President Ramnath Kovind has also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and properties in the state. President, Ram Nath Kovind spoke to the Governors and Chief Ministers of West Bengal and Odisha. He expressed his concern about people’s well-being in the wake of the devastation caused by cyclone AMPHAN.In a series of tweets, Kovind said, in this hour of crisis the nation stands united in supporting the affected people in every possible way and the official machinery is striving hard to ensure efficient rescue and relief operations. He said, my prayers are with the affected people and I hope the life returns to the normal soon in the cyclone-affected parts.
