TWO more dedicated hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 patients become functional in Delhi

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health & Family Welfare  Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Sunday, July 05  visited one thousand bed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID hospital in Delhi. It is built by DRDO in just 11 days setting a record. It will be operated by the army. The Defence Research and Development Organisation decided to name different wards of new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID-19 Hospital in Delhi after the Indian Army troops who lost their lives in the Galwan valley face-off with Chinese army on June 15. The ICU and Ventilator Ward in the hospital have been named as Col B Santosh Babu Ward, the martyred commanding officer. The centre has 250 specialised intensive care unit beds and is fully air-conditioned. Speaking to reporters, Defence Minister said, the guidelines of the World Health Organization are being followed in this hospital.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs has kicked-off operations of Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre in Chhatarpur area of South Delhi. Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal inaugurated this Centre claimed to be the largest of its kind in the world with over ten thousand beds. Adequate arrangements have been made by the ITBP at the centre including security, reception, call centre, nursing stations, command control stores and maintenance staff. Over one thousand doctors, nurses and paramedic staff of ITBP and other CAPFs have been deployed at the facility to operate it smoothly. More than 75 Ambulances will also be deployed at the Centre. A group of first patients are expected at the centre this afternoon. Anil Baijal reviewed with agencies concerned, the availability of facilities like beds, oxygen cylinders, concentrators, ventilators, ICU and medical staff. Baijal advised the officials to focus on severely ill patients and if required, shift them to dedicated COVID-19 Hospitals. He instructed South Delhi Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness and sanitation at the centre. The LG said the management of COVID centre by ITBP is greatly appreciated.
