MULAYAM Singh Yadav Cremated With Full State Honours

Mulayam Singh Yadav, founder-patron of Uttar Pradesh based Samajwadi Party and former CM of India’s most populous State, breathed his last on 10th October 2022, at the age of 82 succumbing to prolonged illness. He was under treatment at Medanta hospital in Gurugram close to Delhi since last week.  His last rites were held at his native village Saifai, with full state honours in presence numerous dignitaries and followers.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems. He was devoted towards popularizing the ideals of Loknayak Jaya Prakash Narain and Dr Ram Monohar   Lohia, said PM Narendra Modi in a condolence Message. He served for three non-consecutive terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and also served as Union Minister for Defence. He was a member of The Lok Sabha representing Azamgarh constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Born on November 22, 1939, popularly known as  MSY in national political circles, he rose in UP politics in a period of intense social and political ferment after the 1970s. Emerging as a socialist leader, MSY soon established himself as an OBC stalwart. He took oath as UP’s 15th CM in 1989 after the Congress was voted out of power. Three -time UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav rose in UP politics in a period of intense social and political ferment after the 1970s. The Other Backward Classes (OBCs) had then started gaining political ascendancy in UP sidelining the Congress party dominated by upper-caste leaders. UP was then witnessing sharp communal polarization in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and several Hindu organizations led  Ram Janmabhoomi Movement.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expressed its deep grief at the passing away of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, veteran leader of the Samajwadi Party, three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Union Minister for Defence.
