AHMEDABAD will host India’s 2nd pink ball test, says Ganguly

HappyBirthdayDada: Sourav Ganguly, the Maharaj of Indian cricket, turns 48

THE SECOND day-night pink ball test in India will be played in Ahmedabad during England’s tour in the country early next year. BCCI  President Sourav  Ganguly was instrumental in making cricket history when at his initiative Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens hosted the first-ever day-night pink-ball Test match in the country from  November 22 with Bangladesh. Undoubtedly, it was a huge success. Confirming the coming tour of England to India, Sourav Ganguly, said England is scheduled to be in India from January to March for five Tests and a limited-overs series. Setting speculation at rest on shifting the India-England series to some other country due to the Covid pandemic, BCCI boss said Ahmedabad, Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh and Kolkata are likely to be the three venues for the Test series. “We have made some tentative plans but nothing has been finalized yet. We still have four months’ time,” he told PTI.  Right now, the BCCI ‘s topmost priority is the team selection for the Indian squad’s Australia tour. “Before England, we have Australia series coming up. There will be team selection happening in a few days. “England will play five Tests and a limited-overs series.  BCCI is exploring all possible options including creating bio-secure bubbles as a morale booster for cricketers and support staff. Meanwhile, with England expected to tour South Africa next month, England’s Limited Overs skipper Eoin Morgan has pleaded for bubbles during the tour. He hoped that after the bubble for players created for the ongoing  Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates, similar curbs on movement for cricketers will be in place on England players to enable players to withdraw from tours if they feel playing in bio-secure bubbles during the COVID-19 pandemic will impact their mental health,  Eoin Morgan has said.  Incidentally, Morgan has taken over Kolkata based  KKR’s captaincy from Dinesh Karthik. edited by PK Chakravarty.
