Six people who attended Nizamuddin congregation die of COVID-19: About 300 persons hospitalized

Twenty-four people, who took part in a religious congregation have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Tuesday. Talking to reporters at his residence, he said that 1,033 people have been shifted to various places. The minister said, “700 people who attended this congregation have been quarantined while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered FIR against a Maulana for organizing the event. The Tablighi Jamaat hosted the mass gathering was attended by both Indian followers and those from abroad.  Nine Indians who attended this congregation have died – 6 in Telangana, one each in Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. One foreign national, a Filipino has also died in Mumbai and 19 other foreigners connected to the movement have tested positive for coronavirus. 10 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Andaman. Of the 10, nine people had attended the Nizamuddin congregation in Delhi.It is believed that 1,500 members of the group are currently inside the mosque. Out of these, approximately 300 have been found to have fever, cough and breathing problems. They are being taken to public hospitals across Delhi for isolation. At least 285 people from the Jamaat have been admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital as they were showing coronavirus symptoms. Of the 25 new cases reported from Delhi on Saturday, 18 were from the Jamaat in On Monday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered an FIR against a Maulana who was leading the congregation at Markaj (Centre) in West Nizamuddin , according to a Times of India report. The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi has reached 97 as of Monday.  The area has been placed under a complete lockdown by the Delhi Police, health and municipal authorities. Authorities are attempting to detect and limit the spread of the deadly virus. Headquarters of the Jamaat, also known as Bangle Waali Masjid has been sealed and the rest of the members are being rest of the members are being screened for possible COVID-19 symptoms. “All foreign workers of Tablighi Jamaat have been located and all DGPs have been alerted for maintaining strict surveillance,” said an official. Jain said, “700 people who attended this congregation have been quarantined while around 335 people have been admitted to hospitals.” Jain said screening of all those who participated in the event is being conducted by the government. On Monday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered an FIR against a Maulana who was leading the congregation at Markaj (Centre) in West Nizamuddin in South Delhi. The Delhi Police has cordoned off a major area in Nizamuddin West where several people .The Tamil Nadu government has stated that around 1,500 residents of the state travelled to Nizamuddin Delhi for the conference. Of the lot, 981 people have been traced by officials and being tested. The Telangana government has identified 194 persons from across the state, who visited Nizamuddin in Delhi from Telangana. All have been put under quarantine. ssam government has asked all of its citizens to voluntarily report themselves to the nearby government hospital if they were present at the Nizamuddin Markaz religious congregation in Delhi. The citizens have been asked to contact health officials on the 104-helpline number. As many as 299 people from across the state are believed to have attended the congregation, said the Assam government on Tuesday. Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “If there is anyone from Assam who attended the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat at Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi, please IMMEDIATELY report voluntarily to the nearest government hospital or by calling Helpline no # 104.
